طرح «تدریس گروه‌های کوچک» در ۳۵۰ مدرسهٔ دولتی استرالیای غربی آغاز شد
دولت استرالیای غربی با اختصاص ۲۱٫۸ میلیون دلار، برنامه‌ای دو‌ساله به راه انداخته است که مهارت‌های خواندن و ریاضیات نزدیک به ۱۳ هزار دانش‌آموز را بهبود می‌بخشد و بار کاری معلمان را کاهش می‌دهد.
به گزارش رادیو نشاط، ۳۵۰ مدرسهٔ دولتی این ایالت در قالب ابتکار تدریس گروه‌های کوچک (Small Group Tuition) از مربیان تخصصی بهره‌مند خواهند شد. در این طرح، آموزگاران در گروه‌های دو تا پنج نفره با دانش‌آموزان کار می‌کنند تا شکاف‌های یادگیری در سواد و ریاضیات را جبران کنند.
معلمان ویژهٔ طرح، درس‌ها را بر پایهٔ نیاز هر گروه طراحی می‌کنند، پیشرفت دانش‌آموزان را به‌طور منظم پایش و نتایج را به معلمان کلاس، والدین و مراقبان گزارش می‌دهند. هدف اصلی، حمایت دقیق از دانش‌آموزان دارای افت تحصیلی و آزاد‌کردن زمان معلمان برای تمرکز بر کل کلاس است.
بودجهٔ برنامه از طریق توافق مشترک دولت‌های ایالتی و فدرال تأمین می‌شود؛ توافقی که در بازهٔ ۲۰۲۵ تا ۲۰۲۹ در مجموع ۱٫۶ میلیارد دلار به مدارس دولتی استرالیای غربی اختصاص می‌دهد. اجرای طرح زیر نظر «کارگروه تشدید بار کاری» قرار دارد تا اطمینان حاصل شود اهداف کاهش فشار بر معلمان و بهبود نتایج تحصیلی دانش‌آموزان محقق می‌شود.
سابین وینتون، وزیر آموزش و پرورش استرالیای غربی، دربارهٔ این ابتکار گفت:
«تدریس گروه‌های کوچک، دسترسی دانش‌آموزان نیازمند به حمایت بیشتر را به آموزش هدفمند فراهم می‌سازد و در عین حال فرصتی برای معلمان ایجاد می‌کند تا زمان بیشتری را صرف آموزش کل کلاس کنند.»
